Lord of the Flies is a book written by British author Sir William Golding. His inspiration for the book came from an earlier book The Coral Island.
It is Golding's most popular book by far and is often considered one of the best novels of the 20th century. It is required reading in many curriculums including AQA's GCSE specification in England and Wales.
